Lions Club International

Vendor Biography

Lions Clubs International is the world’s largest service club organization dedicated to bettering the quality of life for the handicapped, the poor, the sick and the aged. The motto of Lions Clubs International is “WE SERVE”.

LIONS  SERVE

It’s that simple, and it has been since we first began in 1917 in Chicago, Illinois, founded by Melvin Jones. Among our famous members are Pres. Jimmy Carter, Pres. Gerald Ford, Hellen Keller & many others.

Our clubs are places where individuals join together to give their valuable time and effort to improving their communities, and the world.

Over the last 100 years, the kindness and dedication of Lions has multiplied across borders, oceans, and continents. With over 1.4 million members, we know we have an opportunity to truly change our world.

We unite our service around five global areas of need;

Hunger, Childhood Cancer, Diabetes, Vision,  and the Environment.

These Global Causes present significant challenges to humanity, and we believe that together we can meet them.

Hunger

We serve to ensure all community members have access to food.

Childhood Cancer

We serve to help those affected by childhood cancer survive and thrive.

Diabetes

We serve to reduce the prevalence of diabetes and improve quality of life for those diagnosed.

Vision

We serve to prevent avoidable blindness and improve quality of life for people who are blind and visually impaired.

Environment

We serve to sustainably protect and restore our environment to improve the well-being of all communities.

Locally, our Lion’s Club Quepos organized just last year. So far, we organized a successful Bingo in Dec ‘19 and used those funds to bring food to many needy people in Quepos & surrounding areas.

We had also organized a Walk-a-Thon for April 11 to raise funds for the Children of Quepos with Childhood Cancer.

Unfortunately,  we had to cancel that activity because of the Coronavirus restrictions.

We are accepting non-perishable food & higiene donations to add to the purchase the Lion’s Club Quepos recently made from a Food Bank in SJO, so we can distribute “diarios” to many needy families in Quepos & surrounding areas.

Thank you.
